Our musicians arrive on site 30 minutes prior to playing in order to set-up and touch base with the wedding officiant, planner, or
day-of coordinator.
-
Absolutely!
And we highly encourage it!
We always ask our couples what their favourite songs are for walking down the aisle.
Typically, we do one custom song for each of the following:
Bridal Party (& Family Members) Entrance
Bride’s Entrance / Groom’s Entrance
The Signing
Recessional / Exit
We have also received many requests for a dedicated live performance during the first dance, which we are always happy to do as well!
-
Absolutely!
We touch base with every one of our couples with a one-on-one Zoom Consultation after signing the booking form to offer our Congratulations on your engagement personally, as well as take the chance to hear if you have any questions or special requests you’d like to give us for your big day.
We always love hearing more about what your preferences for music are during the Ceremony & Cocktail Hour.
-
We do!
Usually on our Zoom Consultation, we ask if you are working directly with a specific day/month-of coordinator or wedding planner and DJ.
We then reach out to them to make sure we do more work (and you do less) and help coordinate the necessary coordination and set-up requirements leading up to your wedding day.
-
We kindly ask for the schedule and slotted time to be confirmed 30 days before the wedding date so that we can lock in that time of the day with our musicians.
A minimum of a week before the wedding date, if timing adjustments are needed, we are happy to be flexible as long as it’s within a 15 minute adjustment window earlier or later.
Eg: Prior confirmed start time was 12:00 PM, and now it needs to be changed to 11:45 AM or 12:15 PM:
that’s totally ok!
-
We play for all types of events associated with the celebration of our couples’ relationships!
Events We Perform For Include:
Proposals
Engagement Parties
Bridal Showers
Weddings
Private Ceremonies
Baby Showers
-
We have an extensive musical library of thousands of selections of songs to choose from, as well as several composers on staff to create custom song arrangements for our couples during the Ceremony Entrances.
Examples of Artists & Songs We Have Include:
All Classical Composers
(Bach, Beethoven, Debussy, Tchaikovsky, Vivaldi)
Pop Music & Singers
(Taylor Swift, Ed Sheeran, Brunos Mars, Michael Bublé)
Film, Anime, & Movie Music
(Disney, Pixar, John Williams, Hans Zimmer, Joe Hisaishi)
Top Bollywood Selections & Songs
(Kal Ho Naa Ho, Kuch Kuch Hota Hai, Tum Hi Ho)
Christmas, Indie, Jazz, Rock, and Country Selections
-
Yes! :)
Many couples ask us to relocate right after the
Ceremony for the start of the Cocktail Hour.
Sometimes it’s across the hall, up a hill, or even
across the street.
We expect this to happen for the majority of weddings we perform at and are happy to do so!
-
We kindly ask our lovely couples to have (armless) chairs of standard height ready for our musicians - for the total number of musicians playing.
Our musicians will not be bringing their own chairs, and will be sitting for the entire performance, unless you have requested a solo violinist.
-
If you and your partner have a very specific vision of exactly how you’d like the timing of the Ceremony entrances to work out, then we would highly recommend requesting our lead player to come attend the dress rehearsal.
In the past, the lead musician (usually first violinist, cellist, or harpist) comes to the dress rehearsal for an hour and plays through the selections during the run-through, makes appropriate adjustments, then relays the timing information to the rest of the ensemble on the day of.
For couples who have chosen to request a musician to attend the dress rehearsal: it made a big difference.
-
Yes :)
Our typical booking package (98% of our bookings)
is usually 2 hours long, which includes the
Prelude, Ceremony, & Cocktail Hour.
For shorter one hour bookings, we offer flexibility and the option to do so.
Some couples choose to have live music for only the Prelude & Ceremony for one hour, or only the Cocktail Hour. Either way, the price difference is less, but not by too much compared to our two hour rates.
-
We only accept e-transfer payments for both the
50% deposit and final remaining payment
by the day of the wedding.
We also accept direct wire transfers for clients from the US.
Additionally (because many couples are curious), there is
no discount off the total fee if paid in cash.
We also do not accept credit cards, cheques, or cash.
Thank you so much for understanding! :)

Our couples must provide complete protection to our musicians, their instruments, and equipment from environmental factors such as direct sunlight, strong winds, and any form of precipitation for outdoor weddings.
Our musicians perform on extremely expensive instruments and cannot be exposed to harsh, direct sunlight and high temperatures. Peak wedding season during the summer usually sees temperatures that can go up to 35°C outdoors.
Arrangements with venue coordinators and planners must be made to ensure our musicians are completely shaded from the sun and any possible precipitation.
If the weather calls for possibility of rain, complete, full 360° protection for our musicians or a secondary back-up rain plan that does not endanger the well-being of our musicians or cause any potential damage to their instrument must be arranged in advance.
-
Prelude:
Our musicians typically perform 10-15 songs during the 30 minute segment prior to the Ceremony.
Ceremony:
Four songs performed during the Ceremony for the Bridal Party, Bride/Groom’s entrance, Signing, and Recessional is the typical expectation.
Cocktail Hour:
For a 1-2 hr Cocktail Hour or Reception, our musicians are typically able to perform close to 30 to 75+ songs, depending on their lengths!

A backing track is a pre-recorded instrumental accompaniment that plays in the background while the violinist performs live on top of it.
It helps fill out the sound, making the music richer, fuller, and more dynamic—especially for modern songs that originally have multiple instruments.
With Backing Track:
You hear the beautiful violin melody + soft piano, strings
or other background instruments playing along.
Without Backing Track:
You only hear the single violin melody.

A few of our most popular ensemble bookings include:
String Quartet
String Trio & Harp
Violin & Harp
Solo Harp
String Duo
Solo Violin & Backing Track
-
If you’re interested in a solo violinist, a backing track is:
✅ Recommended for:
• Modern songs that sound better with full instrumentals.
• Outdoor weddings where sound can get lost in open spaces.
• Larger venues where guests are seated far apart.
🚫 Not necessary for:
• Smaller, intimate indoor weddings where the violin’s natural sound carries well.
• Traditional/classical music, which is often played solo without backing.

We Do! ☺️
Referral Program:
For couples who were referred to us personally through a previous couple, or for connections, friends, and family who hear our musicians perform live at weddings, we offer a friend discount :)
Please note you will need the names, email contact, and venue/date of the referring couple in order to be approved.
Discounts:
If you personally run a non-profit organization, are an official Board Member of one, OR donate to a non-profit organization, we are most happy to give you a discounted rate. Please note we will require your official organization name, website, certificate, and charity number.
We also partner with several non-profits in the GTA and donate to their causes in hopes of making our community a better place.

Early on in the New Year, shortly after Engagement Season (Thanksgiving to Valentine’s Day), we are typically almost booked solid for the peak wedding season (May - September).
As most weddings usually fall on Friday, Saturday, and Sunday at major venues, it’s a smart move to reserve your vendors early!
Having said that, many of our couples book at least 12-18 months in advance. Once we receive your 50% booking deposit and signed contract, then your date is locked in with us!
In the past, we’ve had inquires at the last minute (especially for harpists or any ensemble combination with harp) that we sadly could not fulfill, simply due to the overwhelming demand and number of inquiries we receive consistently.
TLDR:
Book Early to Guarantee Your Big Date!
-
Absolutely!
We’ve had many couples contact us to reserve a performance for their family member and/or friend’s upcoming wedding.
We do offer gift-certificate bookings and also reach out to the engaged couple to Congratulate them and let them know the gift was sent on your behalf!
-
Our team is confirming details for our upcoming Private Concert (Gift) where we invite all our lovely couples who have signed on with us for their wedding day this past season and perform a private hour-long concert for them.
This concert will feature our most requested, popular songs from our 50+ TOP HITS for all the instrument combinations we offer: starting with solo violin, cello, harp, string duo, string trio, sting quartet, and all of the above combinations with harp:
ending with the string quartet & harp.
This will be an annual event at a venue in Downtown Toronto
featuring your favourite wedding musicians!
Complimentary drinks, snacks, and desserts will be served after the concert!
🎂🍰🧁🍷🍹
This will allow our couples to enjoy an evening of music stress-free on top of their ceremony performance, get to know the musicians on our team -
as well as meet other lovely & recently engaged couples!
Every couple that signs on with Toronto Wedding Strings is eligible to attend all future annual concerts that we host, free of charge.
